Korea Day 4-7

Today it’s off to Seoul!
Guess where did we visit? We went to "Da Chang Jing"! or "Jewel in the palace", Dae Jang Geum theme park, MBC's filming studio, of the Korean drama "Jewel in the palace".

For all the Jewel in the Palace fans, eat your eyes out!

These are the actual filming grounds of the korean drama serial depicting court life and politics, food and the royal lifestyle somewhere around the 17th century. The top right picture is actually's Chang Jin's handprint.

The jail grounds where they were imprisoned.

All these look familiar?

The top left picture is where Chang-jin hid the bottle of Vinegar.

Bow to me...

The gate where Chang-jin was surprised to find closed.

Familiar scenes?
After that we went to see the political grounds, something similar to singapore's Sultana.

A pretty fountain, on the right is the parliament house, and the backdrop is "North Mountain"

A royal guard directing traffic in the middle of the road.
Then it was shopping time! We went to Dongdaemun Market and Jeonju shopping district in Seoul.

Giant Doota shopping complex, shops are arranged in similar styles to Heeren. Imagine a giant ANNEX spanning 10 stories with it's own foodcourt on the top level. The whole building is like Heeren.

Even the Dong Dae Mun Stadium (baseball stadium) has shops around it's circumference, surrounded by makeshift shops.

The shopping district in Jeonju has at least 20 other buildings like this. Spent 2 days here.

Ginseng Chicken dinner!
The next two days, we went further into Seoul, spending the night at the Holiday Inn, Seoul.

Myung Dong Shopping district, imagine a GIANT Chinatown/ANNEX/Orchard Road Mix.

Lotte, Seoul's largest shopping centre, about the size of Malaysia's Time Square with it's own amusement park inside.

Lotte World is like a small city with an amusement park, folk museum, sports center (including a skating rink and pool/water slide park), shopping center, and hotel. Most facilities are indoors, so they can be enjoyed throughout the year. The central area is open, so that several levels of people can watch the other people ice skating, enjoying the rides, eating, and shopping.

Yes, an indoor-open ice-skating rink!!

Finally, day 8, it's time for us to depart. Incheon International Airport for another 6 hour flight back to Singapore.
